Rep. Hank Johnson, a U.S. Congressman representing Georgia's 4th district since 2007, shared several tweets on January 28, 2025. Johnson addressed issues related to federal funding and his plans for public engagement via social media.

On January 28, 2025, Rep. Hank Johnson criticized former President Donald Trump’s plan to cut federal funding passed by Congress. He described the initiative as an "illegal plan" that could potentially harm democracy and negatively impact various sectors including agriculture, housing, education, and healthcare. "Trump vowed to be a dictator on day one. By slashing federal funding passed by Congress–a plan right out of Project 2025–this illegal plan threatens democracy, hurts farmers, raises rent and grocery prices, makes college less affordable, and undermines disease-fighting efforts."

Later that day, Johnson announced he would be going live on Instagram at 6:45 PM to discuss recent events. He invited followers to join the conversation through a link in his bio. "Going live on Instagram at 6:45pm to talk about everything that’s been happening recently. Click the link in my bio."

Subsequently, Johnson confirmed that he was live on Instagram and encouraged people to tune in to his broadcast through another tweet. "Live on Instagram now. Tune in"
