CNN anchor Jake Tapper has speculated about the possibility that former President Joe Biden may have secretly pardoned himself before leaving office. The comments were made during a conversation with New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman on CNN’s program “The Lead.”

Tapper raised this issue after playing a clip of former President Donald Trump pointing out to Fox News host Sean Hannity that Biden did not pardon himself. Tapper suggested, "Although it is possible, we don’t know, but it is always possible for a president to pardon somebody and not announce it."

Haberman agreed with Tapper's speculation, responding, "That’s true. That’s true." Tapper continued by saying, "I mean, so it’s possible Joe Biden pardoned himself, and we just don’t know about it," and concluded the segment by noting, "Who knows? Joe Biden set a lot of precedents on his way out the door."

A video clip of the discussion was shared on social media by TV News Now.

If such an unprecedented move occurred, more information may come to light in the future.
