DeKalb County Board plans to opt out of homestead exemption

The DeKalb County Board of Education has revealed its plan to opt out of the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption for the DeKalb County School District (DCSD). This decision could have significant implications for property taxes and school funding in the area.

To discuss this matter, public hearings are scheduled. Residents are encouraged to attend these sessions on Wednesday, January 22, at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, at 10 a.m., and Thursday, February 6, at 6 p.m. All meetings will take place at the Robert R. Freeman Administrative Complex located at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard in Stone Mountain.
