Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri, a member of the progressive group known as the Squad, lost her reelection bid earlier this year. Despite this setback, she remains determined to continue her political career and has hinted at the possibility of running for public office again in the future.
Bush addressed her constituents' concerns by stating, "I wasn’t unseated because I didn’t take care of my community. We brought over $2 billion to our district in four years." She highlighted her office's efforts in assisting constituents with federal agencies for programs like Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and housing assistance. Bush also cited the Biden administration’s COVID-era eviction moratorium as a significant achievement during her tenure.
In discussing the Squad's influence, Bush emphasized, “The Squad will keep fighting. First of all, the Squad is big. And I know we want to make the Squad just out to be a few people, but we don’t do this work by ourselves.” She added, “Anyone who underestimates our power is severely mistaken because we aren’t going anywhere, and I will always be Squad. I’m not going far.”
The recent election results indicated that many Americans favored conservative policies over those proposed by progressives like Bush. Nonetheless, she remains undeterred and open to future political opportunities.
Ian Jaeger reported on Twitter that Rep. Cori Bush expressed openness to running for office again, stating that "possibilities are endless."
