DeKalb County is opening four warming centers for residents due to forecasted cold weather from Wednesday, December 11, through Friday, December 13. The centers will be operational each night starting at 8 p.m. The locations include Frontline Response International on Gresham Road in Atlanta, the North DeKalb Senior/Community Center in Chamblee, Mason Mill Recreation Center, and Exchange Recreation Center.
Transportation pickups are scheduled to take residents to Frontline International. These will occur at various locations such as Chamblee Library, Avondale Fire Station No. 3, and other designated sites throughout the county. Specific pickup times are provided for each location.
Frontline Response International has been contracted to assist individuals during extreme weather conditions by offering centralized services such as hot meals, beds, and case management. Unlike traditional warming centers operated by DeKalb County, these additional services aim to provide more comprehensive support during cold spells.
Notably, DeKalb County fire stations will not serve as overnight warming center locations; however, Avondale Fire Station No. 3 will act as a transportation pickup point to Frontline.
Residents requiring homelessness assistance or housing services can reach out to DeKalb County Coordinated Entry by calling (404) 687-3500. Further information about the centers and services offered can be found on the official county website at www.dekalbcountyga.gov/weather.
