DeKalb County Education: Which district had most students enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year?

DeKalb County School District had the highest enrollment among DeKalb County districts, welcoming 88,562 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were male, and 49% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black, representing 58% of DeKalb County School District's total enrollment.

Among the four districts in DeKalb County, City Schools of Decatur ranked second in enrollment numbers with 5,505 students, while State Charter Schools- Ivy Preparatory Academy- Inc. welcomed 418 students to be ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

DeKalb County School District generally encompasses schools within DeKalb County with its main office in Decatur.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
