For his first Doraville Difference Maker Award Council Member Simmons nominated Yvette Prussing.
After moving around the Metro Atlanta area for a few years, Yvette and her husband made Doraville their home in 2009. Yvette quickly took to her new home, becoming a champion for all things Doraville.
In 2020, Yvette was nominated to the Planning Commission where she has served as Chair for two years. Civic engagement is second nature to Yvette, who can be found encouraging her friends and neighbors to get out and vote, volunteer, and otherwise get involved in the community. Yvette was a volunteer throughout the Doraville 150th Celebrations and marches with Doraville Pride in Atlanta's annual Pride Parade. It's not just Doraville Yvette loves either. She is a fervent animal lover as well! You can find Yvette most times rescuing an animal she's come across or finding a new home for an animal.
In accepting the award, Yvette commented on how she was speechless at the honor. But she did make sure to evoke the words of Bob Barker, "remember to spay and neuter your pets!"
