It's difficult to keep good news quiet, especially when the Atlanta Braves' Heavy Hitters are involved in the announcement. Thanks to the Braves Foundation and Academy Sports, the softball and baseball teams at Pebblebrook are the proud owners of $6000 worth of new equipment.
On Monday morning, Pebblebrook students filled the Kay Jackson Gymnasium to witness the presentation of the equipment, along with school administrators, representatives from all participating organizations, and Post 3 Board member Tre Hutchins. The Heavy Hitters drumline kept the event rocking and upbeat as everyone celebrated the large donation of the much-needed equipment.
"This will allow us to train more," said head coach Jason Ryals. "These are tools that we never had before and will help us develop faster. It will give our teams the ability to catch up to other teams that play travel ball. It is all very exciting for our programs at Pebblebrook."
The relationship between Pebblebrook and the Braves began last year when the Falcons played Newnan in Truist Park. Coach Ryals and Danielle Bedasse, Executive Director of the Braves Foundation, met at that game and have stayed in communication since then. "This summer, we got to sit down and see that our paths aligned," explained Coach Ryals about how it all began. "The Braves have adopted us and been kind enough to bring others in, like Academy."
Pebblebrook principal Dana Giles, or Dr. G, expressed her appreciation for all in attendance, especially Coach Ryals. "If there was a scale for commitment from 1 to 10," Dr G. said with a smile, "his score would be a 20! He's committed to Pebblebrook in every way he possibly can be. It's not surprising that something like this would happen because of his dedication and hard work."

Tre Hutchins expressed clearly what was on everyone's mind: more wins on the diamond. "I am looking forward to coming to the games, and I'm looking forward to coming to championships because we are on our way," he said to cheers. "Continue doing what you're doing... being great!"
Thank you to the Braves Foundation, Academy Sports, and the Mableton Improvement Coalition for supporting Pebblebrook Softball and Baseball. We look forward to what the upcoming seasons have in store!
