Greater Atlanta Christian School issued the following announcement on Apr. 7.
The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber recently held their monthly First Friday breakfast at Peachtree Corners’ Atlanta Tech Park, the organization’s signature monthly networking event drawing local business professionals.
Another outstanding local youth was recognized in front of community leaders. MaryBeth Bender, Chamber executive board member, conveyed the organizations’ desire to elevate students in the Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners’ area making a difference in their community- not as much because of what they do, but because of who they are.
The SWGC presented their third Character Award to Greater Atlanta Christian’s Madeline Facteau. The award was created to recognize outstanding students whose attitude and actions embody the organization’s mission, passion, and commitment to excellence and community action.
“Madeline consistently is a peer-influencer of the best kind. She holds herself to a high standard and her genuine caring nature draws others to her. As I consider her contributions, I am grateful for her spiritual maturity in pouring out her support, empathy, and aid to others,” shares GAC Principal Shane Woodward who was present for her recognition. “Madeline is a stellar student and athlete who works hard, and her time and efforts reap good things for many people.”
The GAC Senior is President of the National Charity League, a member of the Student Ministry Team, National Honor Society, Red Cross Club, Spanish Club, Homecoming Committee, serves as Student Ambassador, Ecuador Missions Team and is tenacious in her athletic pursuits in Varsity Lacrosse.
The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce champions the local area as the preferred place for economic opportunity and diverse talent, generating a robust quality of life. The organization fosters collaboration amongst business leaders to connect, engage and make a difference in the community.
Each month of the school year, the Chamber will recognize a selected student based on the characteristics of: respect, citizenship, caring, trustworthiness, justice/fairness and responsibility, displayed at home and in the community.
Applications for consideration are available and can be submitted to SWG Chamber of Commerce board member, Mary Beth Bender, at mbender@norcrossga.net.
