Boxing legend George Foreman has passed away at the age of 76, as confirmed by his family on Friday. Known as "Big George," Foreman was a two-time heavyweight champion and participated in some of boxing's most significant events.
Foreman's rise to fame began at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, where he won a gold medal. He turned professional shortly after the Olympics, achieving his first title in 1973 by defeating then-undefeated heavyweight champion Joe Frazier.
In 1974, Foreman faced Muhammad Ali in the iconic match known as "The Rumble In The Jungle" held in Zaire. This match remains one of the most memorable moments in boxing history.
Beyond his achievements in sports, George Foreman expressed strong patriotism for America. In a report by Gateway Pundit from 2021, Foreman stated, “I have always loved America.” He elaborated on this sentiment during an appearance on FOX News, emphasizing that once someone falls in love with their country, nothing can shake that faith and love.
Ring Magazine also expressed its condolences over Foreman's passing, recognizing him as one of the greatest heavyweights and an icon of the sport. Their sympathies go out to his friends and family during this time.
Rest in peace to a legendary figure both inside and outside the ring.
