DeKalb County is preparing for cold weather by opening four warming centers for residents. These centers will operate 24 hours a day from January 23 at 8 p.m. until January 26 at 8 a.m. The locations include Frontline Response International on Gresham Road, Tobie Grant Recreation Center on Parkdale Drive, Mason Mill Recreation Center on McConnell Drive, and Exchange Recreation Center on Columbia Drive.

An additional overnight-only warming center will open at the North DeKalb Senior/Community Center in Chamblee starting January 23 at 8 p.m. Special transportation services will be provided each morning to transport individuals to one of the full-time warming centers.

Transportation pickups to Frontline International are scheduled from various locations including Chamblee Library, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center, Mason Mill Recreation Center, Avondale Fire Station No. 3, and several other sites across Decatur and Stone Mountain. Additional pickup times may be added as needed.

Frontline Response International has been contracted to assist those needing help during extreme weather conditions. Unlike traditional warming centers, Frontline offers hot meals, beds, and case management services in one location. Transportation is available from all county warming centers to Frontline for those wishing to access these services.

It should be noted that DeKalb County fire stations will not serve as overnight warming centers; however, Avondale Fire Station No. 3 will act as a transportation pickup point for Frontline.

Residents needing homelessness assistance or housing services can contact DeKalb County Coordinated Entry at (404) 687-3500. Further information about the centers can be found on the county's website at www.dekalbcountyga.gov/weather.
