Rumors have been circulating about the possibility of Dr. Ben Carson being nominated by President Trump for the position of Surgeon General. On Sunday, Dr. Carson addressed these rumors.
Dr. Carson took to social media platform X to clarify his position. "I am excited to speak with President Trump about how I will continue to advance the America First agenda, and I am meeting with him in the near future," he stated. He further clarified, "However, contrary to reports, I will not be serving as the Surgeon General."
According to Fox News, Dr. Carson broke his silence on these rumors but mentioned his plans to meet with President-elect Donald Trump soon.
Dr. Carson previously served as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from 2017 to 2021 during Trump's first term. While he has ruled out taking on the role of Surgeon General, there is speculation that he might return as HUD Secretary in a second Trump administration.
Newsweek noted that Polymarket currently ranks Carson as a leading candidate for HUD Secretary, holding a 26% probability over other contenders.
Throughout Trump's presidential campaign in 2024, Dr. Carson was active in campaigning across key swing states, including Michigan where he resides.
If not chosen for HUD Secretary, Dr. Carson may also be considered for a role within the Department of Education due to his advocacy work through Little Patriots Learning.
