Fourteen individuals were arrested during a human trafficking sting at the annual Comic-Con event in San Diego. California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced that the operation, conducted from July 25 to 27, resulted in the rescue of ten victims, including one child.

Undercover agents, alongside state and local authorities, posed as sex buyers to identify both victims and traffickers. In a statement, AG Rob Bonta said, “Unfortunately, sex traffickers capitalize on large-scale events such as Comic-Con to exploit their victims for profit.” He further stated that these arrests "send a clear message to potential offenders that their criminal behavior will not be tolerated."

The California Department of Justice's San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force spearheaded the operation. AG Bonta expressed gratitude towards all partners involved in the task force and emphasized the commitment of his office to support vulnerable Californians by providing assistance and guidance.
