DeKalb County Commissioners have announced a townhall meeting to discuss proposed water and sewer rate increases. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 178 Sams Street in Decatur, Georgia. It will also be available virtually via Zoom.

Commissioner Robert Patrick, chair of the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee, stated, "This is an important discussion that affects all of us in DeKalb." He emphasized the need for residents and business owners to be informed about the impact of these changes on infrastructure and services.

The meeting will feature presentations by DeKalb County Chief Operating Officer Zachary L. Williams, Chief Financial Officer Dianne McNabb, and Director of Consent Decree and Environmental Compliance Maria Houser. They will explain the rationale behind the proposed adjustments and their benefits.

The PWI Committee will also discuss the upcoming vote on this issue scheduled for November 19 during the Board of Commissioners' regular business meeting.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with limited space available for in-person attendees. Comment cards will be provided for questions during the event, while virtual participants can submit queries through Zoom chat.

Commissioner Patrick added, "Our goal is to ensure every question and concern is addressed to the best of our ability."
