DeKalb County Police conducted bomb sweeps at five voting precincts following threats received around 5 p.m. No bombs were found at these locations.

The police department searched the New Bethel AME Church in Lithonia, North DeKalb Senior Center in Chamblee, Reid H. Cofer Library in Tucker, Wesley Chapel Library in Decatur, and New Life Community Center in Decatur. A sweep is still ongoing at a sixth location, Briarwood Recreation Center in Atlanta.

Threats were also made against two sites that are not current polling locations: Stonecrest (Old Sam’s Club) and Salem Panola Library in Lithonia.

Voting was temporarily halted at the affected precincts to ensure the safety of voters and poll workers until police cleared the facilities for reopening. Once cleared, voters were allowed to return and cast their ballots.

The DeKalb County Law Department is working on obtaining an emergency order to extend voting times at these locations.
