Fears are rising among New England residents as human remains continue to be discovered in various towns across the region. Concerns are growing that these incidents may be the work of a serial killer. The remains of three women have been found over a six-week period, raising alarm among communities in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
On March 6, the body of 35-year-old Paige Fannon from West Islip, New York, was found in New Haven, having been washed into the Norwalk River following heavy rain. Less than two weeks later, on March 21, police discovered the remains of 59-year-old Denise Leary, a mother of two. On March 25, in a wooded area of Foster, Rhode Island, the remains of 56-year-old Michele Romano were identified. Other unidentified remains have also been located across New England during this time.
The Daily Mail reports suggest a growing fear among residents that their towns are being targeted. Other media outlets, including masslivenews and Fox News, have also covered the story, though some law enforcement agencies are downplaying the threat of an encroaching serial killer.
This developing situation is leading many to consider personal safety measures, if allowed, and emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant.
