Comedian Tim Dillon has raised concerns about shifting perceptions of American values, particularly free speech. In a discussion with FOX News, Dillon argued that basic American values are now viewed as 'right-wing' by some progressives. He highlighted the departure of these values from mainstream acceptance as a reason for the Democratic Party's poor performance in the November elections.

FOX News reported Dillon's contention that such ideas being labeled as right-wing is unprecedented. He remarked, “You know, when people call it a rightward shift, my pushback to that is: were these statements rightward in 2015 or 2005? When did they become right-wing statements? When did it become a right-wing statement to say, ‘I should have the bodily autonomy to not take an experimental vaccine?’” Dillon questioned.

He continued, “When did it become a right-wing statement to say, ‘I don’t think the United States should be in wars?’ I remember these were left-wing statements. When did it become a right-wing statement to say that the United States should look after the middle class and workers instead of importing cheap labor so that the profits on Wall Street could go up? These are right-wing points? This is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”

In a recent interview, the comedian criticized Democrats for their approach to media, mentioning how certain podcasts, including his own, were overlooked. “We had [JD] Vance came on our show. We immediately emailed Tim Walz … do you want to come on? No response. I just reached out to Bernie Sanders … doesn’t want to come on. Gavin Newsom…” Dillon is quoted as saying in a social media post dated April 16, 2025.

Dillon opined that Democrats have allowed radical elements to steer their party's agenda, resulting in negative consequences. He argues that the importance of free speech as a fundamental American principle should not be debated along partisan lines.
