President Trump's Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, Stephen Miller, engaged in a heated exchange with CNN host Jake Tapper regarding the administration's immigration policies. This discussion took place as the Trump Administration resumed immigration raids and deportation operations.

Since President Trump's inauguration last week, ICE has arrested over 3,500 individuals residing in the country illegally. During an interview on CNN, Tapper questioned Miller about the potential impact of these deportations on agricultural labor. "The Department of Agriculture says that between 2020 and 2022, 42% of crop workers were undocumented immigrants," Tapper noted. He raised concerns about how these efforts might affect grocery prices and border security.

Miller responded by challenging Tapper's premise: "Well, I mean, I’m sure it’s not your position, Jake. You’re just asking the question that we should supply America’s food with exploitative, illegal alien labor." He further argued that only a small percentage of undocumented workers are employed in agriculture and suggested most reside in urban areas or industrial towns.

Miller emphasized that many immigrants who entered under Biden's administration are not engaged in farm work but rather living in cities. He mentioned a guest worker program supported by President Trump as part of a long-term strategy to transition towards automation in agriculture.

Additionally, Tom Homan, Trump's border czar, expressed his intent to increase daily deportations during an interview with Jesse Watters.
