Oprah Winfrey delivered a speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) last night, where she accused Republicans of attempting to scare voters. This assertion comes amidst ongoing claims from Democrats about former President Donald Trump being a threat to democracy.

Michelle Obama and Bernie Sanders also spoke at the convention, criticizing wealthy individuals, yet billionaire Oprah Winfrey was warmly received. In her speech, Winfrey stated: "There are people who want you to see our country as a nation of us against them. People who want to scare you. Who want to rule you. People who would have you believe that books are dangerous. And assault rifles are safe."

Winfrey addressed issues of racism, sexism, and income inequality, stating: "I have been on the receiving end" of these societal problems. Despite her substantial net worth of $2.7 billion, she highlighted personal experiences with discrimination.

Megyn Kelly commented on social media regarding Winfrey's remarks about facing racism and misogyny in America, noting the country's role in her rise to fame and wealth.

In her speech, Winfrey emphasized the importance of decency and respect in the upcoming 2024 election: "You know this is true, that decency and respect are on the ballot in 2024 … Common sense tells you that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz can give us decency and respect." She aimed her message at independents and undecided voters.

The event has drawn mixed reactions online. The Twitter account Trump War Room shared a clip from 1988 featuring President Trump on Oprah’s show discussing trade issues and suggesting he might run for president one day.
