Scott Jennings, a conservative commentator on CNN, has gained attention for his forthright commentary. In a recent discussion during the Democratic National Convention (DNC), Jennings highlighted the fact that Democrats have held the presidency for 12 of the past 16 years.

Jennings questioned why former President Donald Trump is frequently blamed for current issues despite having served only four of those 16 years. He stated, "The gap that I see in all these speeches — as good as they were — [Kamala Harris] is in the White House right now."

He further emphasized, "Democrats have controlled the White House for 12 of the last 16 years, and for all of the talk about division and the problems in the country, and people are hurting, Democrats have mostly controlled this country."

Jennings continued by pointing out that Trump had been president for only four years while Barack Obama and Joe Biden had occupied the office for the remaining period. He questioned how it was possible to attribute all current issues to Trump: "Trump had it four [years], the Obamas and Biden had it for the rest of the time, and somehow, it’s still all Trump’s fault."

This statement sparked reactions from his fellow panelists at CNN. Jennings noted that there seemed to be a significant oversight in addressing who has been responsible for ongoing problems: "To me, that is the glaring hole in this campaign that hasn’t yet been solved at the convention. How do you explain all of the problems that will be solved by the person who is currently in there for the last 3.5 years and who is supposed to be already working on solving it?"

The video clip of Jennings' remarks quickly circulated online, with viewers commenting on its impact.

During night one of the DNC, mentions of Trump significantly outnumbered other key issues such as economy, border security, crime rates, prices, and inflation.

Statistics from night one:

- TRUMP: 147 times

- ECONOMY: 27 times

- BORDER: 8 times

- CRIME: 6 times

- PRICES: 5 times

- INFLATION: 3 times

Many have praised Jennings' contributions to CNN's discussions.
