One of the most confusing aspects of the 2024 election is the polls. They have been fluctuating, especially since Joe Biden was replaced by Democrats with Kamala Harris.
Polls seem to change daily, showing Trump ahead one day and Harris ahead the next. The media promotes the idea that Kamala Harris has gained momentum, yet she remains one of the least popular vice presidents in recent history. This raises questions about how she is polling so well now.
According to polling expert John McLaughlin, polls are oversampling Democrats to inflate Harris's numbers and make her appear more popular than she actually is.
Just the News reports:
Vice President Kamala Harris has enjoyed a noticeable surge in national polls since becoming the Democratic standard bearer. However, this rapid shift has led some industry analysts to question the apparent boost in her standing. During her 2020 run, she struggled to break 3% before dropping out, according to The Hill.
Before becoming the Democratic nominee, Harris had poor approval ratings and initially trailed Trump in head-to-head matchups. The average quickly flipped after several surveys showed Harris ahead. These surveys have attracted scrutiny from various pollsters due to either their lack of transparency about sampling methodology or oversampling Democrats.
“So what they’re doing is they’re polling fewer Republicans. They’re polling a disproportionate number of Biden 2020 voters in these states that were dead even,” pollster John McLaughlin said on “Just the News, No Noise” television show.
“They’re saying the Biden 2020 voters should be four or five points higher. It’s ridiculous. So what they’re doing is they’re trying to pump Harris up. They’re trying to suppress our vote. And this is, you know, there’s smart people doing this, so I think it’s intentional.”
Some believe this claim given past actions by media outlets supporting Democratic candidates and policies aimed at securing electoral victories for Kamala Harris against Trump.
