GA U.S. HOUSE DISTRICT 4: Congressman Hank Johnson's Statement on President Biden’s Historic Nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court

Announcement2

GA U.S. House District 4 issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.

Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee and chairman of the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet, released the following statement on President Biden’s nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals to serve as the next Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court:

“Today, during Black History Month and two years to the day after his public vow to nominate a Black woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, President Joe Biden made history by announcing the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer,” he said.

“I applaud President Biden for nominating this imminently educated, impeccably qualified and broadly experienced jurist to be the next Justice to ascend to the nation’s highest court, where for the first time in our history, four women will serve simultaneously. Judge Jackson has been through three confirmation processes, and each time she was confirmed after bipartisan votes in the Senate. I call for the Senate to again, and without undue delay, confirm Judge Jackson’s nomination to the Court.”
