White students accounted for 2% of Lithonia High School’s 2024-25 enrollment

In the 2024-25 school year, Lithonia High School enrolled 29 white students, marking a 107.1% rise from the prior year, according to Georgia Department of Education data.

Total enrollment at Lithonia High School reached 1,464 students during the 2024-25 school year. White students made up 2% of the population, ranking as the third-largest demographic group in the school.

The school operates within DeKalb County School District, whose main office is located in Decatur.

Out of 129 schools in DeKalb County School District, Dunwoody High School had the largest number of white students enrolled for 2024-25, with 728 students.

The National Center for Education Statistics reported that the racial and ethnic makeup of Georgia’s public school students was about 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.

Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools following the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more of school days in 2024, per the Georgia Department of Education. The state launched new efforts—including an attendance dashboard, a campaign to raise awareness, and targeted aid for districts most affected—to improve student attendance.

In 2025, Georgia legislators passed updates to attendance laws forbidding expulsions based solely on absence. The new measures also require additional reporting and coordinate with programs that enable students to receive diplomas via alternative options.

Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio averaged 14:1 as of 2026, slightly better than the national 15:1 average.
