Reports from the Georgia Department of Education show that Robert Shaw Theme School had two white students enrolled in the 2024-25 school year, unchanged from the prior year.
For the 2024-25 year, the total student body at Robert Shaw Theme School was 280. White students made up 1% of all enrolled students, placing them among the smallest demographic groups at the school.
The school is part of the DeKalb County School District, which has its central office in Decatur.
Dunwoody High School had the largest white student enrollment among DeKalb County’s 129 schools in the 2024-25 school year, recording a total of 728 white students.
The Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report stated that more than 1.7 million students attended public schools statewide. Elementary grades reported the highest numbers with 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by 388,733 in middle school (22.7%) and 539,092 in high school (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools in the post-pandemic period, as 20.7% of students were absent for at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To address this, GaDOE began a statewide initiative that incorporates a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and focused resources for the districts most in need to encourage regular attendance.
In 2025, Georgia legislators enacted a measure updating school attendance laws to prohibit expulsion solely due to absenteeism. The legislation also mandated additional reporting and aligned with programs supporting alternative pathways to graduation.
Georgia reported an average student-to-teacher ratio of roughly 14:1 as of 2026, outpacing the national average of 15:1 according to Public School Review.
