On November 11, 2025, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) assisted U.S. Border Patrol agents in Starr County to apprehend four individuals who had crossed the Rio Grande into the United States. According to authorities, DPS’s K9 unit, with a dog named Zita, played a key role in tracking and locating the group in brushland near the border.
The four individuals arrested were women, and officials identified one as a “special interest alien” from China. All four were taken into custody and transferred to Border Patrol for further processing.
“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.” Article IV, Section 4 of the US Constitution.
Officials highlighted ongoing cooperation between state agencies like Texas DPS and federal entities such as Border Patrol in addressing unauthorized border crossings. The operation reflects broader efforts by law enforcement at multiple levels to respond to migration along the southern border.
Recent reports from state authorities indicate that illegal crossings have declined since early 2025 following changes in federal administration policies.
Law enforcement continues to face challenges due to high numbers of migrants entering during previous years. Coordination between different levels of government remains important for ongoing border security operations.
