A recently released surveillance video has captured the moment when Bradford James Gille, 42, of Afton, Michigan, carried out a stabbing attack at a Walmart in Traverse City last month. Authorities report that Gille used a 3½‑inch folding knife to randomly stab 11 people inside the store, including men and women as well as one Walmart employee.
Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea stated that Gille has been formally charged with one count of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder. Law enforcement officials are pursuing a terror-based indictment against him.
The incident began near a checkout counter where Gille targeted shoppers without warning. Eyewitness video from the scene shows bystanders confronting Gille in the parking lot. Among them was an armed citizen who helped contain the suspect before law enforcement arrived within minutes after receiving emergency calls.
Sheriff Shea identified the victims as follows: an 84-year-old woman, an 82-year-old man, an 80-year-old woman, a 70-year-old man, a 67-year-old woman, a 65-year-old woman, a 55-year-old man, a forty-year-old man, a 39-year-old man, a 38-year-old man, and a 29-year-old woman.
No motive for the attack has been released by authorities at this time.
