Secretary Pete Hegseth has placed Deputy Chief of Staff Darin Selnick on administrative leave amid an investigation into unauthorized disclosures of sensitive military information. An Air Force veteran and former senior adviser to Concerned Veterans for America, Selnick was escorted from the Pentagon on Tuesday, reported Politico.

"Darin Selnick, the Pentagon’s deputy chief of staff, was also suspended as part of the same probe and escorted out of the building," noted one official. The leaks involved military operational plans and other sensitive information, including matters concerning the Panama Canal, the Red Sea, and Ukraine, alongside Elon Musk’s visit to the Pentagon.

These measures are part of an effort by the Trump administration to curb leaks in the Defense Department. Earlier actions included the removal of Dan Caldwell, a senior adviser to Hegseth, on the same charges. "Reuters first reported Caldwell’s removal, but Selnick’s departure and the focus of the leaks have not been previously reported," added Politico.

Efforts to combat leaks included a March memo by Hegseth’s chief of staff, authorizing the Pentagon’s director for defense intelligence to investigate and use polygraphs.
