Leaving CNN has allowed Chris Cuomo to express his opinions more freely. In a recent segment, he criticized leftists for downplaying an assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Cuomo argued that if Vice President Kamala Harris had been in a similar situation, the reaction from the left would have been far more intense.
Cuomo's remarks were captured in a transcript provided by Mediaite. He expressed frustration with those who minimized the incident, stating: "Fuck you! You get nicked in the ear by a bullet and tell me that it’s no big deal. I’m good. I’m good. Nah, nah, that’s crazy." He emphasized that such an event would have been treated with much greater seriousness if it had involved Harris.
He further commented on the political consequences of this attitude: "And then you call me a bigot for saying that this is why you lost the election. That’s exactly why you lost the election. You are out of touch."
Cuomo's critique included accusations that some wished harm upon Trump, which he found reprehensible: "How fucked up is that? That you wished he had died? That you played down that he was shot."
A video clip of Cuomo's comments was shared on social media by journalist Jason Cohen, where Cuomo reiterated his stance on how the left's reaction to the assassination attempt contributed to their electoral defeat.
Cuomo acknowledged some shortcomings in his assessment but maintained that he was largely correct in his analysis of the situation.
