Former First Lady Michelle Obama faced criticism after posting a video message on Instagram. In the video, she used the term "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" and mentioned that recent months have been difficult for many people. This statement was interpreted by some as a reference to Donald Trump's election.
In her message, Mrs. Obama also highlighted various programs offered by the Obama Foundation. However, her choice of words sparked disapproval from several social media users.
FOX News reported that Michelle Obama's New Year's message received significant online backlash. Her video began with the statement: “Happy holidays, everyone. I know it’s been a difficult few months for so many of us, and that folks are feeling a little bit anxious and uncertain.”
Within hours of being posted, hundreds of comments appeared on Instagram criticizing her remarks. One commenter wrote: “A difficult few years from the damage the Biden administration has caused!” Another added: “Things have never looked better since Trump won the election! The people have the power! Not even all those celebrities could change that!”
The video was shared on Twitter/X, where it continued to attract negative responses. One tweet read: "Michelle Obama says 'happy holidays' instead of 'Merry Christmas' because she’s a see you next Tuesday."
Critics questioned whether Mrs. Obama recognized the satisfaction millions felt about Trump's return to the White House.
