In the aftermath of the 2024 election, Democrat Adam Gray has overtaken Republican incumbent John Duarte in California's District 13. This shift occurred over three weeks after Election Day. Initially trailing, Gray surged ahead by 194 votes following efforts to "cure" ballots led by Christine Pelosi, daughter of Nancy Pelosi.

Christine Pelosi openly acknowledged her involvement in these efforts on social media. She stated, "Grateful to everyone working the Democrats’ ballot cure phonebanks with our volunteer army today — House Dems will flip #CA13 and #CA45 because the voters chose change and progress!"

The Democrats also gained ground in Orange County, a traditionally conservative area. Derek Tran defeated Republican Michelle Steel in District 45 after more than three weeks post-election. Steel conceded following Tran's victory declaration. In another Orange County race, Democrat David Min emerged victorious over Republican Scott Baugh in District 47 just a week after Election Day.

These developments come amid a backdrop of significant political shifts in California during the recent elections. The state saw a strong showing for Republicans at the top of the ticket but experienced Democratic victories in key congressional races.
