Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell appeared before congressional committees on Tuesday amid allegations that homes displaying Trump signs were deliberately bypassed during disaster aid efforts after Hurricane Milton. Criswell addressed two House committees, refuting claims of systemic bias within FEMA.

Criswell attributed the incident to a "rogue employee" and confirmed that Marn’i Washington, the employee involved, had been terminated. Reports indicate that Washington instructed her staff to avoid assisting homes with Trump flags in their yards following the hurricane in Florida.

A whistleblower provided text messages revealing that Washington ordered relief workers to skip over homes displaying Trump signs. According to internal messages obtained by The Daily Wire, FEMA discriminated against Trump supporters needing help after recent hurricanes in the Southeast.

The Daily Wire reported: “Whistleblowers say that relief workers were told it was ‘best practice’ to pass over houses ‘advertising Trump.’” Workers recorded no contact with residents, citing directives: “Trump sign, no contact per leadership.”

Under questioning from Rep. Paulina Luna, Criswell admitted that FEMA skipped 20 houses with Trump signs needing hurricane relief.
