Larry Sabato, a well-known pollster recognized for his "crystal ball" predictions, expressed concerns on CNN regarding the current state of the presidential race between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Sabato indicated that recent polling data shows a widening gap unfavorable to Biden.
During the interview, which took place before George Stephanopoulos's interview with Biden, Sabato noted that even a successful media appearance would not significantly alter the campaign's trajectory. He stated, "I don’t think [President Biden] can change the dynamic with one interview. I suppose you’d say stop the bleeding and the bleeding has been bad."
Sabato highlighted that recent surveys, both public and private, consistently show Biden trailing Trump by six points. He emphasized that this margin represents millions of voters and questioned what actions could potentially reverse this trend: "What is it that’s going to restore them? A good interview, a good rally? Come on."
The pollster's remarks suggest a challenging scenario for Democrats as they face an increasingly difficult election landscape without any apparent solutions.
