The Daily Beast has reported on a leaked video featuring President Trump, recorded after last Thursday's debate, where he criticizes Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The footage, which shows Trump in a golf cart handing what appears to be tip money to caddies, has rapidly gained attention on social media.
In the video, Trump is heard asking, "How did I do with the debate the other night?" to which voices off-camera respond with "Amazing" and "Fantastic." He goes on to claim, “I kicked that old broken down pile of crap. Too bad. He just quit, you know. He’s quitting the race.” When asked for confirmation off-camera, Trump replies affirmatively and adds comments about Kamala Harris: “I think she’s gonna be better. She’s so bad. She’s so pathetic.”
Roger Sollenberger tweeted about the video on July 3, 2024: "SCOOP: In new candid vid Trump states as fact that Biden is 'quitting the race' after debate—'I got him out'—and calls him an 'old broken-down pile of crap.' Trump says he'd prefer to run against Kamala Harris, calls her 'pathetic.'"
Following the video's release, President Trump reposted it on Truth Social with the caption “No tax on tips!” This was further shared by Dan Scavino Jr. on July 4, 2024.
The Daily Beast noted that when approached for comment regarding the video, Trump's campaign referred to a press release issued earlier in the day. The statement criticized Democrats who have turned against Biden and emphasized Trump's belief in his ability to defeat any Democratic opponent in the upcoming election.
Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles from Trump's campaign stated: “Every Democrat who is calling on Crooked Joe Biden to quit was once a supporter of Biden and his failed policies... Make no mistake that Democrats... colluded to hide the truth from the American public – Joe Biden is weak... Every one of them has lied about Joe Biden’s cognitive state..."
Despite these claims, President Biden affirmed during a conference call with campaign staff that he is not withdrawing from the race. Meanwhile, at least three Democratic members of Congress and several liberal newspapers including The New York Times have urged Biden to step down this week.
