Former President Donald Trump has issued a challenge to President Joe Biden for another debate. The proposal was made via Truth Social on July 4th, where Trump suggested a one-on-one, unrestricted discussion about America's future.
Trump expressed his desire for an "all-out discussion" with Biden on stage. He believes the format would attract significant viewership, stating, "The ratings were massive for the First Debate, record-setting, in fact, but this one, because of the format, would blow everything away!"
He criticized the first debate's media coverage and accused CNN of bias towards Biden. Trump argued that the debate's structure favored Biden by controlling the narrative through microphone muting and commercial breaks.
In his challenge, Trump called on Biden to clarify his positions on several contentious issues. These include immigration policies described as "Open Borders," support for electric vehicles within five years, and inflation management. Trump also suggested that such a debate would test Biden's competence under pressure.
Concluding his statement with enthusiasm for a traditional debate setting, Trump declared: "What a great evening it would be, just the two of us, one on one... ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!!!"
Despite calls from some political figures and commentators for Biden to step down due to concerns about his age and health rumors, he remains committed to running. At 81 years old, he is currently the oldest sitting U.S. president.
The next presidential debate between Biden and Trump is scheduled for September 10th at ABC News. However, details about its format remain unclear.
