A recent poll by Rasmussen Reports indicates that a majority of Americans, including a significant portion of Democrats, view President Joe Biden's mental health as a national security concern. This perception has intensified following Biden's recent address to the nation, which failed to alleviate public apprehension regarding his mental engagement.

The Washington Examiner reports that "most, including 39% of Democrats, fear Biden a ‘threat’ to US security." The survey highlights growing concerns over Biden's mental decline and its implications for national security. The findings are expected to support calls for him to step down from office before his term concludes on January 20.

Amid these concerns, President Biden recently announced his withdrawal from the 2024 reelection race after facing criticism during his first debate with GOP challenger Donald Trump. His campaign faced additional scrutiny due to perceived lapses during public appearances. Some critics have labeled him as "senile" and advocated for his immediate resignation. However, Biden has attributed his performance issues to factors such as jet lag, COVID-19 recovery, and insufficient rest.

According to the Rasmussen Reports survey conducted with the Heartland Institute prior to Biden's decision not to seek reelection, 61% of respondents believe that his "mental decline" poses a threat to national security. Notably, 39% of Democrats and 62% of independents concurred with this assessment.

The potential resignation of President Biden raises questions about succession, as Vice President Kamala Harris would assume the presidency in such an event.
