Construction is underway to replace sewer lines and manhole structures on 2nd and 3rd Avenues in DeKalb County, leading to road closures through October 30. The county has announced that 2nd Avenue will remain closed until September 19, while work on 3rd Avenue is scheduled from September 29 to October 17.

Detour signs are being placed to guide motorists around the affected areas and inform them of local traffic restrictions. These closure dates may change depending on weather conditions.

Work hours for the project are set from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. Residents should expect increased noise and traffic during these times.

For additional information or questions about the project, residents can call the DWM Project Information Line at 1-800-986-1108 or email projectinfo@dekalbcountyga.gov.

During the same period, DeKalb County schools enrolled a total of 98,287 students in the 2022-23 school year. Enrollment dropped by 2.2% compared to the previous year. White students represented 14% of the student body during this time.
