A recent report has raised questions about the funding behind New York City State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani’s political rise. The report, first cited by the Daily Mail, claims that charities linked to billionaire George Soros directed approximately $40 million in donations to support Mamdani’s campaign.
The report alleges that a network of tax-exempt organizations associated with Soros coordinated efforts to channel charitable donations into political activity for Mamdani. The findings come from White Collar Fraud, a conservative investigative site, which suggests these actions may have violated federal tax laws.
Mamdani’s campaign has previously described his ascent as the result of an organic grassroots movement driven by small donations and volunteer canvassing. However, the new allegations suggest significant outside financial involvement.
Soros’s group has rejected the claims. “The math isn’t the only thing that doesn’t add up,” a spokesman for the Open Society Foundation told the Daily Mail. The foundation was established by George Soros and is now led by his son Alex Soros. The spokesman added that the report is “riddled with inaccuracies, false assumptions and misinformation.”
Additionally, Muslim activist Linda Sarsour stated that CAIR (the Council for American Islamic Relations) provided substantial funding for Mamdani’s mayoral campaign. CAIR is reportedly under investigation for alleged connections to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
The New York City mayoral election takes place tomorrow, drawing attention to how voters will respond amid these developments.
