Rep. Hank Johnson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 4th district, shared a series of tweets reflecting on historical and current political issues. These posts highlight his commitment to civil rights and legislative duties.

On December 3, 2024, Rep. Hank Johnson commemorated César Chávez’s imprisonment in 1970 for advocating farm workers’ rights. He drew parallels to his own experiences, stating: “On this day in 1970, César Chávez was jailed for fighting for farm workers’ rights. His courage reminds us of the power of collective action. Like him, I’ve been jailed fighting for voting rights—we must get into good trouble to defend democracy and dignity for all.”

Later that day, he addressed concerns about intellectual property and trade crimes related to China. As the ranking member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, he emphasized bipartisan efforts to tackle these issues through legislation: “As ranking member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, I have participated in multiple bipartisan hearings regarding the IP and trade crimes threat posed by the Chinese government. HR 9151, if adequately funded, would help address these concerns.”

On December 4, 2024, Rep. Johnson expressed support for new leadership within the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), emphasizing its role as a moral compass within Congress: “Congress is the voice of the people and the CBC is the conscience of Congress. Congratulations to our new leaders.”
