Representative Hank Johnson, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 4th district since 2007, recently voiced his opinions on social media concerning financial legislation and healthcare provisions. Throughout his career, Johnson has actively engaged in policy discussions and legislative matters, reflecting his steadfast commitment to his constituencies.

On April 9, 2025, Rep. Johnson criticized attempts to overturn a financial regulation, noting that “Biden capped bank overdraft fees at $5. @SenateGOP voted to overturn it, @HouseGOP will do the same. Republicans never cared about lowering costs and helping hardworking Americans save money. Americans wake up! Republicans are for Inc./Co. not YOU.” His remarks call attention to the legislative decisions that he believes prioritize corporate interests over those of American citizens.

Later the same day, he expressed his opposition to the proposed budget, affirming, “I am voting NO on the @HouseGOP budget. I will never cut healthcare and food assistance for hardworking Americans to pay for another massive tax giveaway for @realDonaldTrump, @elonmusk and their billionaire buddies.” This statement reflects Johnson’s stance against measures that he perceives would diminish necessary social assistance programs in favor of tax benefits for the wealthy.

On April 11, 2025, Johnson turned his attention to health awareness issues, marking World Parkinson’s Day with a call for progress in research and care, “Today is World Parkinson’s Day, which is the perfect time to show our support for the 1M Americans living with Parkinson’s. Let’s work together to advance research, improve care, and find a cure. #ParkinsonsAwareness #ParkinsonsMonth.” Through this message, he aims to rally support for research and initiatives directed at improving the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s disease.

Hank Johnson was born in 1954 in Washington, D.C., and now resides in Lithonia. With a background in law, he studied at Clark Atlanta University before earning his JD from Texas Southern University. Through his long-standing political career, Hank Johnson continues to advocate for various social issues within his district and beyond.
