On February 10, 2025, Rep. Hank Johnson criticized an order from former President Trump concerning the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). He stated, “I joined my colleagues at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to push back against Trump’s order for the CFPB to stand down. We cannot let the Musk/Trump Administration steal our democracy.”
The following day, February 11, 2025, he commemorated Nelson Mandela’s release from prison with a tweet reflecting on Mandela’s legacy. Johnson wrote, “35 years ago today, Nelson Mandela, a champion of the oppressed, was released after serving 27 years in South African prisons. His legacy reminds us to reject hatred, uphold freedom, and work toward a better world for all.”
Later that day, Rep. Johnson voiced his frustration over aviation safety issues in another tweet directed at unnamed officials or entities responsible for addressing these concerns. He tweeted, “Planes are falling out of the sky under your watch and this is your priority? Do your damn job.”
