During the 2024-25 academic year, Tucker High School enrolled 386 Hispanic students—an increase of 14.9% compared with the prior year, reports the Georgia Department of Education.
The school’s total enrollment reached 1,609 students for 2024-25. Hispanic students represented 24% of the student population, making them the second-largest demographic group at the school.
Tucker High School, located in DeKalb County School District, is overseen from a central office in Decatur.
Of DeKalb County School District’s 129 schools, Sequoyah Middle School had the highest number of Hispanic students in 2024-25, with 1,577 enrolled.
Georgia’s public schools enrolled more than 1.7 million students, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. The majority were in elementary grades (787,206 students, or 45.9%), followed by middle schools (388,733 students, or 22.7%) and high schools (539,092 students, or 31.4%).
The Georgia Department of Education found that 20.7% of students missed 10% or more days of school in 2024, with chronic absenteeism remaining a significant challenge post-pandemic. To address this, the department introduced a statewide effort featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness initiative, and specific support for high-need districts to encourage daily attendance.
In 2025, state lawmakers revised attendance laws to prohibit expulsion for absenteeism alone. The updated law also established new reporting requirements and aligned policies to support alternative diploma programs.
By 2026, Georgia reported an average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, an improvement over the national average of 15:1.
