Greater Atlanta Christian School issued the following announcement on May 13. 

On Thursday, GAC’s Athletic Director Tim Hardy announced that Newton Babb will be named as the new Head Boys’ Lacrosse Coach. 

Listed below is a message from Coach Hardy providing context and background information on Coach Babb.

“I am excited to announce that we have selected Newton Babb as our new Head Boys’ Lacrosse Coach. Newton Babb embodies the characteristics we want in a head coach at GAC. First, he has a deep Christian faith that he lives out on a daily basis. Second, he has a natural ability to connect with student-athletes and a passion to see young men develop through athletics.  Third, he loves Lacrosse and has a deep knowledge of the game. Finally, he has a clear vision for the future of Spartans Lacrosse and how it can develop the young men in the program. We are excited to have Coach Babb as our new Head Boys’ Lacrosse Coach at GAC.”

A few facts about Coach Newton Babb

  • 7 years Varsity Head Lacrosse Coaching experience in North Carolina (Page High School and East Forsyth High School)
  • A Georgia native, Coach Babb graduated from Walton High School in 2010 where he played lacrosse and football for 4 years and was teammates with GAC Boys Lacrosse Coach Scott Ratliff
  • Played lacrosse at Greensboro College in North Carolina
  • While at Greensboro College, Coach Babb was a 3 year starter at close defense for the Pride, he earned All-Conference his senior year in both academics and athletics.
  • In 2019 Coach Babb was recognized by Greensboro College as the Young Alumni Award winner which is awarded to alumni younger than 35 years of age who have contributed outstanding service and achievement as humanitarians and/or professionals in their chosen endeavor.
  • Coach Babb and his wife, Sydnie, have an infant daughter, Millie.

Everything from the community, spiritual worship, the facilities, the staff, and the commitment to excellence is home for us. GAC is a very special place with unlimited potential. I am blessed and honored to lead the lacrosse program and continue the foundation laid before me. Hard work, determination, and ENERGY are some of the many strong traits I will bring to the program to continue the program’s excellence. These young men are going to become great lacrosse players but even greater leaders, Christians, husbands, and fathers. The Best Is Yet To Come!”
