Georgia lawmakers schedule CDC-focused roundtable and press conference for September

State Representatives Saira Draper and Omari Crawford, both Democrats from Atlanta and Decatur respectively, will host a roundtable discussion and press conference about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on September 2, 2025. The event will also include participation from State Representatives Imani Barnes (D-Tucker), Mary Margaret Oliver (D-Decatur), and State Senator Elena Parent (D-Atlanta).

The roundtable is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in room 216 of the Georgia State Capitol. The press conference will follow from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Wing Steps of the Capitol in Atlanta.

According to organizers, “Rep. Saira Draper (D-Atlanta), Rep. Omari Crawford (D-Decatur), Rep. Imani Barnes (D-Tucker), Rep. Mary Margaret Oliver (D-Decatur), Sen. Elena Parent (D-Atlanta)” are set to participate in the events.

Jon G. Burns, a Republican, has represented Georgia’s 159th House District since his election in 2005, succeeding Ray Holland.

The events are open to the public and will be held at the Georgia State Capitol located at 206 Washington Street S.W., Atlanta, GA 30334.

Tucker officials plan transportation town hall for September
