FOIA Request to Atlanta Firemens Pension Fund Regarding Employee and Retiree Pension Details on September 20, 2024.

We at DeKalb GA News, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have formally requested records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq. The request specifically seeks information about all active employees and retired employees included in the Atlanta Firemens Pension Fund for the year of 2023.

The detailed data fields requested include last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start date, employment end date, salary, compensation type, amount, year, process date, last disbursement amount, disbursement frequency and the contribution amount for the year 2023.

As a news organization that is deeply involved in gathering and reporting news to the public with an emphasis on holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public sphere; we believe access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public as a media entity; we have also requested for a fee waiver as per standard procedure. We await further communication from the Atlanta Firemens Pension Fund regarding this request.
