FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed on Monday that Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, sent a text message indicating his intent. Patel discussed the contents of these messages during an appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program.

“A text message exchange where he, the suspect, specifically stated that he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and he was going to do that, and when he was asked why, he said, ‘Some hatred cannot be negotiated with,’” Kash Patel said.

Tyler Robinson reportedly confessed in a Discord group chat with friends two hours before his arrest. According to screenshots cited by the Washington Post, Robinson told about 30 people in the chat: “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this. im surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. thanks for all the good times and laughs.” This confession came after another user mentioned Kirk’s shooting in the group.

Patel also noted physical evidence connecting Robinson to the crime scene. He stated: “I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody,” Kash Patel said.

Robinson turned himself in to law enforcement officials in Utah following his online admission.
