Druid Hills Middle School reported an enrollment of 158 Hispanic students for the 2024-25 school year, representing a 0.6% decrease compared to the prior year, the Georgia Department of Education reported.
According to data, overall enrollment at Druid Hills Middle School reached 988 students in the 2024-25 school year. Hispanic students accounted for 16% of total enrollment, making them the third-largest demographic in the school.
The school operates within the DeKalb County School District, which is headquartered in Decatur.
Among the 129 schools across the DeKalb County School District, Sequoyah Middle School posted the highest number of Hispanic students enrolled for 2024-25, with 1,577 students.
The Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report showed that more than 1.7 million students attended Georgia public schools. The largest enrollment was in elementary levels with 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by 388,733 in middle school (22.7%), and 539,092 in high school (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism continues to be a significant challenge for Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. As a result, GaDOE rolled out a state initiative, which includes a real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness campaign, and enhanced support for districts with high absentee rates to improve daily attendance figures.
In 2025, legislation was passed in Georgia revising attendance laws to prohibit expulsions solely due to absenteeism. The update also sets new reporting obligations and aligns with initiatives aimed at helping students earn diplomas through alternative pathways.
For 2026, Georgia reported an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 14:1, better than the national average of 15:1.
