DeKalb elections board schedules meetings for certification and public comment

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections (DeKalb BRE) has scheduled two upcoming meetings in December. The first, a Special Called Meeting, will take place on Friday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. This meeting is set to conduct a pre-certification review of precinct results as required by State Election Board Rule 183-1-12-.12.

A second meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 8 at noon. During this session, the board will handle routine business and certify the results of the runoff election.

Both meetings are open to the public and will be held in person at 4380 Memorial Drive in Decatur, Georgia. Those wishing to provide public comments can do so either in person or by submitting an email no longer than one printed page (minimum font size 12) to electionspubliccmnt@dekalbcountyga.gov. These emails must include the sender’s first and last name and be received between 35 and five minutes before the start of the meeting.

In related information about DeKalb County schools, enrollment declined by 2.2% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, with a total enrollment of 98,287 students according to data from the Georgia Department of Education (https://www.gadoe.org/). Additionally, white students represented approximately 14% of all students enrolled in DeKalb County schools during that period (https://www.gadoe.org/).
