DeKalb County will hold the 3rd Annual Spirit of DeKalb Awards on December 13, 2025, at the Perimeter Crowne Plaza Ravinia. The event aims to recognize leaders and innovators in the local community.

Ryan Cameron, a radio personality and philanthropist, will host the gala. The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring the event.

“The Spirit of DeKalb Awards is our opportunity to shine a light on the extraordinary work being done across our community,” said DeKalb CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson. “Our honorees embody the spirit of innovation, service, and commitment that continues to move DeKalb forward.”

This year’s awards highlight food insecurity as a major concern in DeKalb County. Many families have been affected by economic uncertainty, job losses, and reductions in federal support for programs such as SNAP and housing assistance. As a result, some residents are struggling to access healthy meals.

A portion of proceeds from the gala will go toward local organizations providing food and essential resources to those in need.

The event will include an awards presentation, live entertainment, guest speakers, and a celebration of community achievements. Tickets and sponsorships are available at www.spiritofdekalbawards.com.

DeKalb County schools enrolled 98,287 students during the 2022-23 school year but saw enrollment decline by 2.2% compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students represented 14% of total enrollment during this period (https://www.gadoe.org/).
