DeKalb County revises sanitation schedule for Thanksgiving holiday

DeKalb County has announced changes to its sanitation schedule in observance of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 27. According to county officials, there will be no collection service for residential customers on Thanksgiving Day.

The revised schedule is as follows: Monday, November 24; Tuesday, November 25; and Wednesday, November 26 will follow normal collection days. Customers who are regularly scheduled for service on Thursday, November 27 will have their collection moved to Friday, November 28.

Additionally, the Seminole Road Landfill and both the Central and North Transfer Stations will be closed on Thursday, reopening during normal operating hours on Friday. The Customer Care call center and administration building will also close on Thursday and Friday, resuming regular operations on Monday, December 1.

Recent data from DeKalb County schools shows a decline in enrollment by 2.2% for the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). The district enrolled a total of 98,287 students during that period (https://www.gadoe.org/), with White students comprising 14% of the student body as the third most represented ethnic group (https://www.gadoe.org/).
