DeKalb County Public Library has received grant funding through the Flight Path program, an initiative of the STAR Library Network and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios. Three library branches were each awarded $500 and educational materials to support programs focused on bird migration, bird health, and community engagement with local bird populations. The Flight Path program is the first campaign under the Spark of Science @ My Library initiative.
The grant will allow the library to host events for both youth and adults. Three programs are scheduled between October and December at Stonecrest, Chamblee, and Dunwoody library branches. Each event will feature a screening of the documentary “Wild Hope: Building for Birds” and an activity where participants decorate bird decals to help make windows safer for birds.
The events are scheduled as follows:
– Stonecrest Library: Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
– Chamblee Library: Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
– Dunwoody Library: Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
For more information about these events, the public can visit www.dekalblibrary.org/events and search for “Flight Path.”
